Moravian University junior Owen Nahf (Northampton) has been selected as the Landmark Conference Men’s Track Field Athlete of the Week for his performance recently.
Nahf placed fourth in the 3,000-meter run at the Penn State University Tune-Up with a school record and All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference qualifying time of 8:32.09. Nahf’s time is the fifth best in Landmark Conference history and the fastest in the conference this winter.
“Owen had a slower start to indoors due to a lingering injury from the fall that delayed when he was able to run again so we weren’t certain how quickly he’d bounce back into shape,” stated Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann. “His first workout from about a month ago showed good signs but you still never know until you can see some races and where his fitness is ultimately at. At Ocean Breeze last week, he had a good showing but both of us still felt he wasn’t quite clicking just yet. As a result, he took a more reserved approach to the race out in State College, feeding off a few runners from Carnegie Mellon for the first kilometer before he knew he was having a good day. Once he had that assurance, he moved well through the field and had a great kick to ultimately better one of Greg Jaindl’s many school records. This is definitely a confidence booster that he’s ready to break 15:00 in the 5k and set up for a great outdoor season!”
The Greyhounds are slated to return to action on Saturday, Feb. 24, at the 2024 Landmark Conference Indoor Championship being hosted by Susquehanna University. Action begins at 11 a.m. for field events and 11:30 a.m. on the track.
