Emmaus Public Libraryto host Tee Time March 8-9

The Emmaus Historical Society and Museum, 218 Main St., is closed until further notice due to renovations. Please call the office at 610-966-6591 to schedule a time to drop off any memorabilia.

The historical society is not accepting any yard sale donations and will not participate in the spring community yard sale. All yard sale donations received to date will be held for the 2025 yard sale.

The historical society’s next program and membership meeting will be 7 p.m. March 21 at St. John’s Lutheran Church Parish Hall, 501 Chestnut St. The program, presented by Professor David Small, Jill Cramer, Pat Merkowsky and Marian Schneck, is titled “Dig This: The Archaeological Dig at the 1803 House Explained…” Learn about one of Emmaus’s amazing historical sites. Programs are free and members and nonmembers are welcome to attend.

Hurry before tickets sell out! Lucky Bucks Bingo is 2-5 p.m. March 10 at St. John’s Lutheran Church Parish Hall. Tickets are available online at lehighvalleychamber.org/events or at Emmaus Jewel Shop and David’s Electric.

Bus trips are scheduled for 2024. Call Nancy at 610-967-5715 for more information and to sign up. The bus trips are: Milk & Honey Express Train Ride, Hershey Gardens & Butterfly Conservatory - May 9, Daniel at Sight & Sound - Aug. 22, Magic and Wonder Dinner Theater for the Jukebox Jive Show - Oct. 15 and Dutch Apple Dinner Theater for White Christmas - Nov. 8.

The Emmaus Historical Society’s 2024 membership drive is in full sing. It is time to renew, join or give a gift of membership. Remember, you don’t have to live in Emmaus to join! The Woman’s Club of Emmaus will celebrate the Girl of the Month 6 p.m. March 25 in the Emmaus High School cafeteria. Since 1953, the Woman’s Club of Emmaus has celebrated the accomplishments of Emmaus High School senior girls through the Girl of the Month Program.

This year one young woman was selected in two departments for her accomplishments. The 2023-2024 Girls of the Month are: Kayla DiGiacomo for music, Mikayla Fox for art, Lorelei Kilka for drama, Ashlyn Mugavero for family/consumer science, Paige Seay for business/computer applications, Clare Sheehan for journalism and Angela Tran for math and science.

The Kiwanis Club of Emmaus will host its 72nd annual Easter Egg Hunt 1 p.m. March 30 in Emmaus Community Park, 1330 Chestnut St., Emmaus. Children ages 1-10 may attend for free and could meet the Easter bunny! Each age group will have the opportunity to find special prize eggs as well. This event will occur rain or shine.

The Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St., Emmaus, will host its fourth annual Tee Time March 8-9. Come and play 18 holes of golf with the theme, “Oh, the Places You’ll Go.” The evening of March 8 will be an over 21 event 6-9 p.m. Tickets entitle you to food and one adult beverage, with additional drinks available for purchase. Scott Marshall will provide live music. All families may enjoy Tee Time 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 9 for a small charge, with children 4 and under attending at no cost. Families may purchase local food and beverages on site if they wish. Each day will offer a 50/50 raffle and chances to win an IronPigs box-suite game, $150 Switchback Pizza gift card and a Maple Springs Vineyard winery tour and tasting. Lehigh Valley Martial Arts will visit the library 2:30-3:30 p.m. March 20. All children in third grade and up may attend for an informational session and beginner lesson. If interested, sign up by emailing eplkids@cliu.org, calling 610-965-9284, or stopping by the front desk.

The library will hold parent and child workshops 10:30 a.m. to noon every Tuesday March 5 through April 2. Parents/caretakers may bring their toddlers ages 1-3 and siblings 5 years old and younger may also attend. The workshop will meet every week in the Margaret Knoll Gardner Lecture Room with a community resource professional present. Caretakers and children may spend time together and make new friends while hearing about children/parenting focused issues. The creative writing group meets 2-3:30 p.m. the third Tuesday of every month in the Margaret Knoll Gardner Lecture Room. All adults should RSVP for the next meeting March 19, when experienced creative writer Pat Johnson will give helpful tips to enhance your writing. The group welcomes anyone who wishes to write creatively for enjoyment and/or publication, and all attendees should come with their preferred writing method, whether paper or electronic. The library also offers many opportunities to strengthen your writing skills. Visit their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/emmauspl.org/ 7 p.m. March 7 or April 4 for new prompts every 15 minutes. Feel free to record your ideas right away or reserve the prompts for another time.

Writers of all ages may join in the fun and share their work if they like. The teen writing group also meets 6-8 p.m. the second Thursday of every month, and invites teens in both middle and high school. If interested, simply drop by for a friendly evening of writing.

The Emmaus Arts Commission will host its 17th annual SnowBlast Winter Arts Festival noon to 4 p.m. March 9. SnowBlast recognizes the local arts while offering live music, community artwork and art vendors, ice sculpting and food trucks. This event welcomes families and children of all ages as well, with several family friendly activities.

Lower Lehigh AARP will meet noon March 7 in the lower level of Macungie Memorial Park Hall. The next meeting will be April 4. For more information, call Dot at 610-967-3284.

The zoning hearing board will gather 6 p.m. tonight. Emmaus Borough Council will meet 6 p.m. March 4 and 18. The planning commission will meet 7-8 p.m. March 14. All these meetings will occur at Emmaus Borough Hall and you can find Zoom information and all borough meeting times at emmauspa.gov/Calendar.aspx.
