Ramos leads league in sacks; Wilsterman is All-PSAC
Many former Trojan athletes competed on college teams last fall. Here’s a look at some of them.
FOOTBALL
A few former Parkland players were in key roles for the East Stroudsburg University football team in 2023. Devin Bartholomew handled punting and kicking duties this season for the Warriors. The graduate student made five of seven field goals this fall and has made 33 of 47 for his career. His longest field goals in 2021 and 2022 were from 50 yards each season. In his first season as a punter, the former Trojan attempted 48 punts with an average of 40.3 yards. Twenty of his punts went for fair catches and 16 pinned the Warriors’ opponent inside its own 20-yard line. Bartholomew earned All-PSAC in 2021 and 2022, was D2football.com Elite 100 second team in 2022. Junior wide receiver John Siggins led the East Stroudsburg football team with 442 receiving yards on 29 catches in 2023. He led the team with seven touchdown catches and was second in touchdown scoring overall. The junior played in all 12 games this fall and has played in 33 over three season with 780 career receiving yards and 10 touchdowns on 54 receptions. Red-shirt junior defensive lineman Jered Fenstermaker had 16 tackles, two tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks for the Warriors in 2023.
Two former Trojans played at Misericordia University last fall. Senior running back Colten Peischl was involved in all facets of the game while playing in all 10 games for the Cougars. He scored two rushing touchdowns on 14 carries and caught 15 passes for 116 yards and a score. He also returned one kick off and made four tackles (two solo) last fall. In three seasons the former Trojan has two rushing touchdowns, two receiving touchdowns and 199 receiving yards on 27 receptions. He’s also made eight tackles in his career while playing in 26 games. Senior Andrew Lee played in all 10 games in 2023 after an injury in the 2022 season opener ended his season. Lee made 26 tackles (13 solo), along with two sacks, one interception and three pass break ups last fall. In 19 games over three seasons with the Cougars, Lee has 74 tackles (36 solo), 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, a pair of interceptions and one fumble recovery.
Delaware Valley College junior Luan Avdijaj caught 18 passes for a team-high 286 yards and three touchdowns while playing in all 11 games this fall. After playing in just four games over his first two season, the wide receiver had an increased role in 2023. Avdijaj ran the ball 20 times for 108 yards and three scores while also returning 16 punts for 146 yards. He was second on the team with six total touchdown for the MAC Champion Aggies. Former Trojan Lucas Feher (So., OL) was also on the Del Val roster this fall. After going 9-0 in league play, 9-1 overall and winning their sixth straight league title, Del Val lost to Union College (NY) in the first round of the NCAA Division III playoffs.
Junior Jordan Lewis caught 26 passes for 302 yards and three touchdowns for the Moravian University football team in 2023. All three were career highs for the wide receiver, who has played in all 10 Greyhound games in each of his three seasons in Bethlehem. For his career, Lewis has 58 receptions for 619 yards and five scores. Junior Bryan Monge caught 21 passes for the Greyhounds this fall for 287 yards and one score. The wide receiver now has 32 receptions and 287 yards in 16 college games over the past two seasons.
Five former Parkland players were teammates at Franklin and Marshall College last fall. Sophomore Ty Tremba started all 11 games for the Diplomats. The quarterback threw 29 touchdown passes and just six interceptions while averaging 242.9 yards per game. He also ran the ball 95 times for 250 yards and two scores. Over two seasons the former Trojan has thrown for 4,049 yards and 39 touchdowns. Senior Luke Dauberman also played in all 11 games for the Diplomats, making 39 tackles (25 solo), five tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and forcing a pair of fumbles. Over three seasons Dauberman has played in 28 games. Senior Dante Medlar started 10 games and made 39 tackles in 2023, including 27 solo stops. Over three seasons in Lancaster the safety has made 76 tackles (50 solo) and intercepted three passes. Freshman Jack Harrison played in nine games and made four catches for 58 yards last fall. Senior wide receiver Nick Johnston played in two games in 2023 and has played in six games over his career. In 2022 Johnston scored a touchdown on an 89-yard kickoff return.
Red-shirt senior offensive lineman Michael Bennett played in 10 games this season for the Millersville University football team this fall. A three-year starter at center and team captain, Bennett has played in 41 games in his four-year college career. Former Trojan teammates Nakhi Bullock (Fr., WR) and Gryffin Mitstifer (Fr., K) were also on the Marauder football roster this fall.
Running back Dahlir Adams played in all 10 games at Albright College this fall. The sophomore rushed for 167 yards on 84 carries and one touchdown, while also catching five passes for 17 yards. Adams has 313 career yards on 127 carries, with four touchdowns.
Angel Ramos played in all 11 games at Wilkes University in 2023. The defensive lineman led the Landmark Conference with 10 sacks and was second in the league with 13.5 tackles for loss. The junior was also third on his team with 68 tackles (27 solo tackles). Ramos has played in 31 games over three seasons with 164 tackles (65 solo), 37.5 tackles for loss and 22.5 sacks.
Quarterback Tanner Lewis played in nine games at Lebanon Valley College this fall. The junior completed 30 or 48 passes for 315 yards with a pair of touchdowns. He also ran the ball 30 times for 48 yards and two scores. Over two seasons Lewis has played in 18 games and completed 92 of 156 passes and four TDs, while carrying the ball 84 times for 303 yards and four scores.
Connor Neith played in seven games and made three tackles this fall for the Muhlenberg College football team. The junior linebacker also broke up two passes.
Offensive lineman Kaleb Beers played in three games at King’s College, while former Parkland teammate Marko Galetovic, a sophomore offensive lineman, was also on the Royals’ roster last fall.
Sophomore Andrew Khalife played in one game at Colgate last fall.
SOCCER
Senior Ava Schaller scored three goals and tied for team highs with four assists and 10 points for the Lehigh women’s soccer team this fall. The forward started all 17 games and has started 43 over her four-year career, while playing in 56 games. She’s scored 10 career goals, including four game-winners, and made seven career assists. Former Trojan teammate Zoe Schutter played in 16 games and made eight starts for Mountain Hawks in 2023. The junior forward scored one goal and has two goals for her career while playing in 36 games over the past three seasons.
Former Trojan Louise Gottwald played her finals season on the Stevens Institute of Technology womens soccer team last fall. Gottwald played in 16 games and made 10 starts for the Ducks. The midfielder scored one goal and assisted on one during her college career. After starting 18 games and playing in 22 as a freshman in 2019, scoring one goal and assisting on one. A pandemic and an injury disrupted her next two seasons as she played in seven games in 2021-22 after the 2020 season was canceled. She returned this season as a graduate student to finish her college career, playing 837 minutes, the most since playing 1,218 during her freshman season.
Three former Trojans were part of the Moravian College womens soccer team in 2023. Freshman defender Regan Bleiler played in 16 games and started 15, assisting on two goals in her first college season. Sophomore Grace Blenis played in 16 games and started 10 this fall. The defender scored one goal, a game-winner against Immaculata. Blenis has played in 32 games and started 24 over two seasons in Bethlehem. Freshman forward Emma Hull played in four games for the Greyhounds this fall.
Another trio of former Trojans were part of the DeSales University womens soccer team in 2023. Freshman Catherine Crampton started all 19 games for the Bulldogs. She scored three goals and was tied for a team high with three assists in her first college season. Sophomore defender Sarah Janukowicz played in 15 games and started two for the Bulldogs this season. She has played in 20 games over the past two season and has assisted on one goal in each season. Junior goal keeper Katey Kunz played in two games this fall.
Red-shirt sophomore Jocelyn Fowler played in 11 games and made three starts at Kutztown University this fall. The defender assisted on two goals in 379 minutes of action.
Freshman forward Ivy Dias played in 17 games and made 12 starts at Muhlenberg College this fall. The former Trojan scored one goal and assisted on two in her first college season.
Alex Wilsterman was named All-PSAC Eastern Division First team this fall. The senior midfielder scored four goals and assisted on two while starting all 20 games for the Bloomsburg University men’s soccer team. The former Trojan was All-PSAC Second Team in 2021. He’s scored 11 goals and assisted on five over three seasons of college soccer. Former Trojan teammate Zach Morales played in 15 games and made four starts for the Huskies this season. The sophomore forward has played in 21 games over two seasons.
Freshman Lucas Heberling played in 16 games and made six starts for the DeSales University mens soccer team this fall. The midfielder scored one goal in his first college season. It came in the season opener in a 15-1 win over Penn State Schuylkill. Sophomore defender Anthony Cusumano played in two games this season for the Bulldogs.
Sophomore defender Jack Smith played in 13 games and made one start for the Slippery Rock University mens soccer team this fall. He has played in 29 games over the past two seasons. Sophomore Rocco Birns played in seven games for the Rock in 2023. The defender has played in nine matches during his two-year college career.
Sophomore Will Wagstaff played in four games and made three starts at Wilkes University. The midfielder assisted on two goals last fall an has two goals and three assists while playing in 18 games an making 10 starts over two seasons with the Colonels.
Freshman forward Gabe Bilkshteyn played in four games at Muhlenberg College this fall.
VOLLEYBALL
Sophomore Brynn Dreisbach made a team-high 208 kills this fall at West Chester University. The outside hitter also made 33 blocks and had 166 digs while playing in 92 sets for the Rams. Over two college seasons the former Trojan has 471 kills and 338 digs.
Senior Cat Ferole played in 47 matches and 158 sets for Kutztown University in 2023. The defensive specialist had 215 digs and 14 kills this fall. Sophomore Emma Stalsitz played in 25 matches and 88 sets for the Golden Bears in 2023. The outside hitter had 68 digs and five kills for the season.
FIELD HOCKEY
Goal keeper Brie Barraco started all 17 games at Penn State this fall, allowing 28 goals for a 1.64 goals against average and .789 save percentage. The grad student has started 92 games over five seasons with a career goals against average of 1.56 and save percentage of .758. Former Trojan Aubrey Semler played in 15 games for the Nittany Lions in 2023. The sophomore forward scored her first career goal this fall and has seen action in 25 games the past two seasons.
Maddie Molchany started all 19 games at Temple University in 2023. The senior forward scored two goals while playing 980 minutes for the Owls this fall. Former Trojan teammate Olivia Viccari also played for Temple this fall. The senior back saw action in five games.
Mikayla Brunnabend played in seven games this season for the Millersville University field hockey team. The sophomore forward/midfielder has played in 12 games over two seasons with the Marauders.
Sophomore Carolina Catilao-Sanchez played in 18 games and started 16 for the Moravian University field hockey team in 2023. The defender has played in 26 games over two seasons in Bethlehem.
Sophomore defender Emily Ervin played in 16 games and made 12 starts this fall at Misericordia University. She scored one goal in 2023 and has three goals and one assist in two years with the Cougars while playing 34 games and making 26 starts.
GOLF
Sophomore Jimmy Kelly shot 4-over par 76 to finish third overall at the Moravian Fall Invitational at Saucon Valley Country Club’s Weyhill Course in September. The former Trojan also led his team with a tie for 13th place at the Muhlenberg Fall Invitational at Lehigh Country Club, shooting an 80.
Senior Sam Mortazavi and junior Jacob Donmoyer were part of the Moravian University mens golf team in 2023. Donmoyer played eight rounds of six events with a low round of 79 and a stroke average of 83.38. Mortazavi played in one event this fall and has played in eight over his career to an average of 93.63.
Senior Ava Sweeney played 10 rounds this fall at West Chester University with a season-low round of 87. She placed seventh this season at the Alvernia Fall Invitational.
CROSS COUNTRY
Slippery Rock freshman Brady Hoffman finished 48th overall and sixth on his team at the PSAC Cross Country Championships. He went to NCAA Regionals as the alternate for his team in his first college season.
Kutztown University Julianna Elsesser senior ran in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Championship last month, finishing 121st overall and sixth on her team. KU junior Ava Bendetti finished 18th at the Kutztown Division II/III Challenge this fall, while Elsesser placed 45th at the meet. Senior Logan Iacobelli was a captain for the Golden Bear men’s team this fall.
