Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan has announced Matthew Christopher Schutter, 53, or South Whitehall Township, is charged with 40 counts of child sexual abuse - dissemination of photographs, videotapes, computer depictions and films.

Police arrested Schutter Feb. 6 under $500,000 bail.

According to Holihan’s office, Google, Inc. filed cyber tips for two videos of child sex assault in June 2023, which allegedly led to an email associated with Schutter. In November 2023, Schutter was charged with 20 counts of possession of child pornography and criminal use of communications, both felonies.

Schutter had been free on bail, Holihan said, but it was revoked Feb. 5 following the decryption of Schutter’s devices and the alleged discovery of additional child pornographic images and his repeated sharing of them.
