Vincent D. Bartolai

Vincent D. Bartolai, 64, of Orefield, died on Feb. 13, 2024, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, 17th S., Allentown.

He and his wife, Elizabeth A. (Warner) Bartolai, were married 33 years.

Born April 19, 1959, in Pittston, Luzerne County, he was the son of the late Albert A. and Marie H. (Galuska) Bartolai.

A graduate of Pittston Area High School, he earned the first Associate degree in biomedical equipment technology from Johnson College, Scranton.

He began his career in computer hardware maintenance in 1980 as a field engineer for Storage Technology in northern New Jersey.

He moved to the Allentown area in 1984 and after mergers with Siemens, Oce Printing Systems and Canon Solutions America, he retired in 2018.

His children were the light of his life and he encouraged and supported their endeavors and was extremely proud of their accomplishments.

He enjoyed doing projects around his home, including taking care of his beautiful day lilies.

He often spent winter evenings keeping warm near the fireplace which was stoked with wood he had cut.

Snowstorms didn’t deter him from braving the weather for a grocery store run to purchase the ingredients for vodka sauce.

He then spent time with his children cooking and eating one of his favorite meals.

In his youth, he was a skilled baseball and softball player.

Later, he coached baseball for many years with the Northwestern Youth Athletic Association.

A member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield, he was active there with Boy Scout Troop 150.

He founded the yearly mulch sale, which was their biggest fundraiser.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a son Joseph Bartolai of State College; daughter Janice B. Forbes and her husband, Derek, of Ocean City, N.J.; brothers Albert G. Bartolai and his wife, Lorraine, of Swoyersville, Raymond J. Bartolai and his partner, Cindy Bloom, of Dallas; grandson Dylan Vincent Forbes; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
