The inaugural District 11 girls wrestling championships took place at Easton Area Middle School last weekend and a few Bethlehem products came away from the event with medals.
Liberty led the charge with a second-place team finish out of 24 teams, racking up 144 points to follow team champion Parkland (160 points).
The Hurricanes had eight medalists with Gracie Haflich leading the way with a title at 170 pounds following a 3-1 sudden victory win over Parkland’s Shannon Fratus.
Addyson Munro (235) was the other Hurricane to reach the finals, but she lost by fall to Panther Valley’s Brenda Banks in 54 seconds to take silver.
Doniya Anwari (136), Ellie Rumbalski (190) and Symarah Drey (148) each took third at their respective weights. Kierha Castillo (130) took fourth to round out Liberty’s medal barrage.
Bethlehem Catholic’s Addison Gregor (142) and Remiah Rivera (100) each medaled for the Golden Hawks, as Gregor took second following a 7-1 decision to Easton’s Olivia Capra. Rivera dropped her third-place consolation by fall in 2:17 to Pocono Mountain West’s Seretta Manuel to finish in fourth.
