Western Lehigh Servies conditional use approved

At the Feb. 15 Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting, the conditional use for Western Lehigh Services, 1500 Trexlertown Road, was approved.

Some of the conditions considered include lighting to not be directed toward residential areas, the church and Trexlertown Road. It also includes preserving farmland structures, a 15-inch sound wall next to the mobile home park and a landscaping buffer to block the public’s view of parked vehicles, garage and storage units.

Conditions also include no noise between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. such as yelling, machinery usage and loading and unloading disturbances. There will also be a 10-foot general public access easement running the length of property along the creek.

Some concern was expressed over preapproval work being done which includes a driveway being added as well as inaction on the water situation. The commissioners are aware of these concerns and said they are watching this project.

Commissioners approved the Volunteer Service Earned Income Tax Credit Program for 29 volunteers.

Jessica Rosenbrook was appointed to the planning commission to fill a vacancy. Her term will be completed Jan. 1, 2025.

There was an executive session held to discuss legal matters.
