Businessman faces more charges

The owner of an Allentown title insurance company is facing additional charges that have been levied against him.

Officials said he failed to properly disperse funds he received during real estate sales on behalf of sellers he represented.

According to Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan, Louis Belletieri, 42, of Allentown and owner of Legacy Title, is facing additional charges that include eight counts of corrupt organizations, 10 counts of failure to make required disposition of funds, and nine counts of receiving stolen property.

Belletieri was originally charged with the same charges in October 2023.

The district attorney said the new charges are a result of a continuing investigation that has uncovered more alleged victims. In the newest charges, 11 victims lost a total of $831,431.27.

The original charges filed against Belletieri three months ago stated that four victims allegedly lost more than $1.26 million, Holihan said.

Belletieri surrendered to authorities on Thursday and was arraigned on the newest charges. His total bail on all counts was set at $260,000, 10 percent.

The case was investigated by Allentown Police Detective Joshua J. Baker and Lehigh County Detective Robert Egan, and will be prosecuted by Holihan and Senior Deputy District Attorney Ramma R. Mineo.
