LHS boys top CCHS, but lose to Parkland

Liberty’s run in the East Penn Conference tournament came to a close Monday night.

The Hurricanes couldn’t generate enough offense in the second half and fell to top-seeded Parkland 52-33 at the PPL Center in Allentown.

After trailing 24-20 at halftime, Parkland (19-5) tightened the screws in the second half, limiting the Hurricanes to single digit points in both quarters to come away comfortably with the win.

Liberty (18-6) only converted 12-of-43 shots from the field against Parkland and scored their second lowest output of the season with both of those games coming in the month of February.

No Liberty player reached double digits on the night, as Blake Hargrove led the team with nine points. Parkland’s Nick Coval, the EPC MVP, paved the way with 19 points to lead all scorers.

Liberty advanced to the semifinals with a 50-38 win over Central Catholic last Friday night.

Caden Vermuelen scored 15 points to lead the Hurricanes, while Blake Hargrove and Angel Holguin each added 13 points apiece to pace the Hurricane win.

Liberty will now get ready for next week’s district tournament, where they’ll most likely enter as the third seed.
