The Salisbury wrestling team heads into this week’s regular season finale at 7-7 overall this season and 3-4 in Colonial League matches.

Over the past two weeks the Falcons have competed in a few dual meets as well as a few tournaments. They went 2-2 at the Juniata Duals 2-3 on Jan. 15 at Juniata High School and finished 45th out of 53 teams in a strong field at the Coal Cracker Invitational at Lehighton High School a week later.

A the Juniata Duals, Salisbury beat Susquenitta (51-22) and West Branch (48-23), while losing to East Pennsboro (51-21), Newport (60-9) and Lewisburg (49-24). Sam Krauss and Jakub Gloc both went 4-1 at Juniata, while Nathaniel Tone was 3-1 at the event.

Krauss (285) led the way at the Coal Cracker, winning a team-high three matches and coming up just short of reaching the medal round. Teammates Gavin Cerco (152) and Michael Segata (139) won two matches each at the Coal Cracker.

Salisbury dropped its three most recent dual meets, falling to Palmerton, Notre Dame - Green Pond and Southern Lehigh.

Palmerton edged the Falcons 39-30 on Jan. 10. Jaxon McGuckin, Cerco and Gloc won matches by fall against the Blue Bombers, while Edwin Serrano earned a win by decision and Krauss picked up a forfeit victory.

After a 72-0 shutout at the hands of Notre Dame, the Falcons hosted Southern Lehigh on senior night and fell 54-24.

Krauss, Thomas Pojanowski and Ethan Sandford pinned their Spartan opponents, while Jacob Watson picked up a win by forfeit.

Salisbury will host Northern Lehigh Wednesday, Jan. 21 at Rockne Hall as it honors seniors from Central Catholic who compete on the Falcon wrestling team. That match will end the regular season.

District 11 Duals will be held Saturday, Feb. 3 at Freedom High School. Salisbury heads into this week in 10th place in the district’s Class 2A rankings and will likely not make the top eight to qualify for the tournament even with a win over Northern Lehigh. The District 11 individual tournament is slated for Feb. 23-24.
