The Northwestern Lehigh wrestling team finished its regular season schedule last week.
The Tigers went 3-11 overall this season and 2-6 in the Colonial League.
Northwestern capped the league schedule with a 39-33 loss to Catasauqua last Wednesday. Braydon Uricchio (114), William Turner (133), Trent Croll (139) and Luke Fugazzotto (172) all pinned their Rough Rider opponents, while Katie Brensinger (145) won by decision and Aris Gabri-El (107) picked up a win by forfeit.
The Tigers fell to Palmerton 41-33 last Monday, Jan. 22, with Noah Griffin (121) and Uricchio (114) recording the only pins for Northwestern. Fugazzotto (172) won by technical fall and Croll (133) earned a major decision, while Noah Schlofer (215) and Jackson Huber (285) picked up forfeit wins against the Blue Bombers.
Northwestern’s last win of the 2023-24 season came on Jan. 17 at Wilson, a 33-26 victory that saw a pair of double forfeits. Uricchio (114) and Fugazzotto pinned their Warrior opponents, while Croll (133) won by decision. Kenny Kerekes (127), Daniel Davis (139) and Huber (285) all won by forfeit against Wilson.
The Tigers dropped a 42-30 match against Southern Lehigh on Jan. 10. Gabri-El (107), Kerekes (127), Croll (133) and Fugazzotto (172) all pinned their Spartan opponents.
Turner (139) and Schlofer (215) won by decision against the Spartans.
Northwestern opened the new year with a 48-24 setback against Bangor. Croll (133) and Fugazzotto (172) both pinned their Slater opponents, while Gabri-El (107) and Uricchio picked up wins by forfeit.
The Tigers didn’t qualify for this weekend’s District 11 team tournament. They’ll be back in action Feb. 23-24 at the individual district tournament, held at Freedom and Liberty High Schools.
