The regularly scheduled Macungie Borough Council was held Feb. 5 at the Macungie Institute. Several reappointments and new appointments were on the agenda.
Kevin Weider expressed his interest to remain on the vacancy board which was approved with a term ending Dec. 31.
Alma Akinjiola was reappointed to the civil service commission for a 6-year term ending March 31, 2030.
Michael Hinkle was appointed to the planning commission.
The Volunteer Relief Association allocation of $19,749.83 was a topic of discussion. Council decided to pay this amount to the relief association.
Ordinance 2024-01 was approved which raises the sewer debt fee. It was originally established in 2016 for an amount of $64.50 a quarter.
Kay Builders at Brookside requested a performance security reduction which was approved.
The public works department requested a Gutermann Aqua Scope for $5,850 which was approved.
The public works department also requested a truck bed replacement for one of the borough’s trucks at a cost of $5,500. This was also approved.
Also requested was sidewalk traction melt de-icer for $1,292 and road salt for $6,400. Both were approved.
An executive session was held for real estate, legal and personnel issues.
The next meeting will be held 7:30 p.m. Feb. 20 at the Macungie Institute, 510 E. Main St., Macungie.
