Feb. 7
Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will hold a free food distribution 2 to 4 p.m. Also Feb. 14, 21 and 28. Recipients must reside in the East Penn School District. Signs will be posted to direct parking and which door to use to pick up food.
Feb. 9
Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will hold a drive-up and takeout only free community meal 4 to 5:30 p.m. The meal will consist of ravioli casserole with meat sauce, salad and cookies. Pull up to the rear door behind the church and your packed meals will be brought to you.
Feb. 10
East Penn Neighbors Helping Neighbors will hold its annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser. Seatings are 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Emmaus Moravian Church, 146 Main St., Emmaus. A takeout option also is available. There is a suggested donation. The mission of the group is to help address home insecurity among families with children in the East Penn School District. The Friends of the Emmaus Public Library will host a bus trip to Lancaster to see author Kristin Hannah in conversation with author Adriana Trigiani. The bus will leave from Weis Markets, 1220 Chestnut St., Emmaus, 9:30 a.m. and return by approximately 5 p.m. The event includes a smorgasbord lunch and free time at Shady Maple as well as a signed hardcover copy of Hannah’s new book “The Women,” scheduled to be released in February.
Emmaus Main Street Partners hosts the Emmaus Soup Crawl Trail noon to 4 p.m. Soup enthusiasts will have the option to travel two different trails highlighting businesses around the Triangle and along Chestnut Street. St. Peter’s Union Church, 7863 St. Peters Road, Macungie, will host an Ash Wednesday Worship Service, 7 p.m. All are welcome.
Feb. 18
There will be a Winter Bunderland Bazaar noon to 4 p.m. at Macungie Memorial Park, 50 Poplar St., Macungie. There will be bunny and guinea pig themed vendors as well as shopping for all. The admission fee benefits the care of small animals.
Feb. 24
1803 House fundraiser at Yergey Brewing, 235 Main St., Emmaus, 2-6 p.m. Event includes special ale brewed by Yergey Brewing, food provided by Why Not Burgerz! and acoustic sounds from Russ Rentler. A gift card board, lottery ticket board and 50/50 raffle will also be available.
Feb. 25
East Penn Restaurant Week opens and continues through March 2. A program of the East Penn Chamber of Commerce and the Emmaus Main Street Partners, the event highlights restaurants and eateries in and around Alburtis, Emmaus and Macungie boroughs and Lower Macungie and Upper Milford townships.
Feb. 27
Pharmaceutical executive Alfred Chester is scheduled to present a talk on the history of clinical trials in the black community 2 p.m. at the Allentown Public Library, 1210 Hamilton St., Allentown. Visit the website www.allentownpl.org for details and to register.
March 2
The Allentown Music Club will present a free concert 2 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1533 Springhouse Road, Allentown. The theme will be “All the World’s a Stage” which is a tribute to Broadway. The performers are: Robert Torres, tenor, Stephen Molloy, tenor, Lynn German Long, mezzo-soprano, Monika Short, soprano and Jacqueline Ballerin, soprano. Piano accompanists are: Patricia Alercia, Jonathan Beitler, Shaumik Phadke and Santa Peters. The annual String Award sponsored by the National Federation of Music Clubs will be presented.
There will be a Hoppy Easter Craft and Vendor Show 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Macungie Memorial Hall in Macungie Memorial Park.
March 8, 9
Emmaus Public Library will host its fourth annual Tee Time at the Library fundraiser 6 to 9 p.m. March 8 for those 21 and older and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 9 for families. There is a cost for tickets. Participants will play miniature golf throughout the library. Tickets are available online and at the library main desk. For information, call 610-965-9284.
March 9
The 17th annual SnowBlast Winter Arts Festival will be held throughout Emmaus borough noon to 4 p.m. The event will feature local artists, arts related vendors, live music, community art projects, ice sculpting, local food trucks and a variety of family-friendly events throughout downtown.
March 10
Emmaus Main Street Partners and the Emmaus Historical Society host the annual Lucky Bucks Bingo fundraiser 2 to 5 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus. Highlights include a basket raffle and cash prizes. There is a cost for tickets. Tickets are available at Emmaus Jewel Shop and David’s Electric and online at the website lehighvalleychamber.org.
March 17
Allentown’s 65th St. Patrick’s Day parade will be held 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. According to organizers, the parade will feature eight divisions and 10 pipe bands. Numerous school and community groups, clubs and organizations are expected to participate as marchers and more. The parade will form at the Allentown Fairground track near the Liberty and 19th streets gate.
May 11
The Seed Farm will host its annual spring plant sale at the farm, 5854 Vera Cruz Road, Emmaus. Also May 12. The sale features a wide variety of plants, including vegetable, herb and flower plants grown at the farm. All plants are grown without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides.
