It’s the beginning of February and there’s a lot that’s happened over the past few months so let’s unpack the important events that have happened since last November and into the new year.

Freedom held its first ever electives fair on Thursday, Nov. 30 to promote elective classes to FHS students.

The Freedom HS Theater Company (FHSTC) presented its winter play, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” Dec. 1 to 3.

Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) held a door decorating contest with the theme being “Beat the Blues’’ Dec. 4 to 15 in order to support and motivate those feeling stressed, anxious, or “simply down.” Several classes participated in the contest with the two top winners being invited to a doughnut party to celebrate their success.

Freedom’s photography club held a ‘’ Best photo” competition. Flyers with QR codes were put up around the school for students to submit their photos for the competition. The prize for winning the competition was a $15 Target gift card as well as an invitation to a pizza party held by the club Jan. 24 with the second and third place winners.

The FHS class of 2026 held a holiday bake sale Dec. 18 and 19 outside the cafeteria.

There was a half day Dec. 22, followed by a teacher in-service. School was also closed for winter break Dec. 23 to Jan. 2, with doors reopening Jan. 3.

Keystone testing was held Jan. 9 to 11, with students who needed to take the tests being required to attend school. Those who did not need to take any Keystone tests were given the day off.

School was closed Jan. 15 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The STEPS club held a bake sale Jan. 16 and 17.

Due to bad weather, final exams for the first semester took place Jan. 22 and 23 with Jan. 24 being a makeup day. Students who needed to take final exams were required to report to school while those that didn’t were given the day off. The second semester of classes would begin Jan. 25.

The Engineering Girls Power Society held a bake sale Jan. 29 and 30.

The FHS class of 2025 held a drive Jan. 29 to Feb. 2 in to collect class dues that would go toward paying for school events, caps and gowns for graduation, as well as allowing juniors to attend events such as prom following the payment of their dues.
