Kathleen Mae “Kitty” Kennedy, 94, of Kutztown, died peacefully Jan. 15, 2024, in St. Joe’s Medical Center, Reading, after several months battling congestive heart failure.
Born Nov. 12, 1929, in Wescosville, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Bessie (Haas) Hoffman.
She was a graduate of Emmaus High School.
The wife of the late Marvin C. Strohl Sr. of Fogelsville, who died in 1976, the couple was married 30 years.
She is survived by three of her four children Marvin C. Strohl Jr. of Andreas and his companion Sandra Masters; Susan Campanelli and her husband, Michael, of Kutztown; and JoAnne Shafer and her husband, Keith, of Lake Ariel; one of her six brothers, Russell Hoffman, San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son Bruce in 1960; and her second husband of 25 years, Gene Kennedy of Nesquehoning.
An avid volunteer throughout her life, she was a member of Ziegels Union Church where she sang alto with the choir, served several years on consistory, and enjoyed being a Sunday and Bible School teacher and Youth Fellowship leader.
A Brownie and Girl Scout Troop leader and a 4-H leader for 20 years, she also volunteered for Meals on Wheels for more than 20 years.
She requested a private family celebration of life.
