Three elected officials were sworn in at the first meeting of South Whitehall commissioners on Jan. 2.

Diane Kelly, Jacob Roth and Thomas Johns were sworn in by Judge Anna-Kristie M. Marks.

Kelly was nominated to president of the board.

Commissioner Monica Hodges will be the new vice president of the board.

Jacob Roth was selected to take Commissioner Hodges former position as assistant secretary of the board.

Johns thanked everyone for being there and mentioned his wife, Irene, who supported him throughout the campaign and for many years.

He became disabled about 10 years ago and she said that although the disability would affect him physically, it would not affect him mentally.

He thanked the residents of South Whitehall Township for having their trust and faith to run again.

“I think we’re going to have a good team and I think I’m going to have no problems with anybody, I hope and I’m also looking forward to working with the township people as well as the commissioners,” Johns said.

South Whitehall Board President Diane Kelly and Assistant Secretary Jacob Roth, Judge Anna-Kristie M. Marks, Commissioner Thomas Johns, Township Manager Tom Petrucci, Director of Township Operations Herb Bender and Police Chief Glen Dorney attended the Jan. 2 meeting.
