It’s that time again where those students who are interested in playing a spring sport are reminded they need an updated physical dated on or after June 1, 2023. If they played a fall sport, they do not need another physical. Recertification forms can be found in the student central/Big teams accounts. You may receive a free physical at SHS Feb. 22; however, you need to use the provided link from sign-up genius. Any questions can be directed to Director of Student Activities Monica Deeb at mdeeb@salisburysd.org.

The guidance office at SHS will offer a parent/guardian information session 6:30 p.m. Feb. 6. This session is for parents/guardians of students in eighth and ninth grades as they transition to the high school to choose classes for their high school years.

The next operations and finance committee meeting will be held 7 p.m. Feb. 7 in the administration building. The next curriculum and technology meeting will be 7 p.m. Feb. 21 and will be immediately followed by the school board meeting 8 p.m. at the school administration building.

St. Luke’s University Health Network will present its “Youth in Sport Safety Summit” 6-7:30 p.m. March 20. This will be a virtual event presented by athletic trainers and sports performance coaches from St. Luke’s Sports Medicine. This is a free event but it does require registration. For registration, use the email link sent by the district to ensure you get the Zoom link.

Mark your calendar! SHS Theatre presents its spring musical “The Spitfire Grill” March 14-17. Tickets are available now and veterans and active military will be admitted free of charge. Due to topics discussed in this play, it is strongly recommended children under 10 do not attend for this presentation. For questions, reach out to director Shannon O’Grady at sogrady@salisburysd.org.

Looking forward a bit, Pennsylvania System of School Assessment testing for elementary and middle schools will be held April 22-24, April 29-30 and May 1-3.

SHS Keystones will be given May 13-14 for algebra, May 15-16 for biology and May 20-21 for literature. The school district asks that if possible any appointments and vacations be avoided at this time to complete this testing.
