LCTI to offer new dual-enrollment program for education industry

The classical dance club will host its next meeting after school Jan. 31 in the Emmaus High School cafeteria. Interested students may join the club’s Schoology group with code 8FM2-RHSC-9H7QQ. Meeting attire should include athletic wear and dance shoes.

On Feb. 2, EHS will dismiss 11 a.m., following a half-day bell schedule.

Interact Club will host its Valentine’s Day meeting after school Feb. 6 in the EHS cafeteria. Activities will benefit The Valentine Project, which supports pediatric cancer patients through greeting cards. With questions, contact akaunitz@eastpennsd.org.

The EHS counseling department will partner with the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency and Lehigh Carbon Community College, hosting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid Completion Night 6 p.m. Feb. 7 in the EHS library. Designed for 12th grade students and their families, the event will facilitate the application process for federal student aid. Due to limited space, interested families must register online, filling out the Google Form at https://www.eastpennsd.org/ehs/counseling/. With questions, contact an EHS guidance counselor.

During the 2024-2025 school year, Lehigh Career & Technical Institute will offer Future Educators, a program preparing students for the education industry. Open only to seniors, the program includes dual enrollment classes, such as “Introduction to Special Education” or “Foundations of Education,” along with hands-on experience in Lehigh Valley school districts. Interested juniors may attend an informational session noon Feb. 7, signing up in the EHS counseling offices. Future Business Leaders of America will host a Kids Night Out 5-8 p.m. Feb. 9 in the EHS cafeteria. The event offers crafts, games and food for K-5 students and their parents/guardians. To register, fill out the Google Form linked in the EHS announcements. Payments, including cash or check, can be mailed to EHS or submitted to an East Penn School District elementary school. EHS’ unified track team consists of student-athletes with and without intellectual disabilities, fostering a sense of community and acceptance throughout the school. Each athlete participates in one track event, one field event and an optional relay event. The season spans March to May, ending with a regional championship event. Track events include 100-, 400- and 800-meter dashes, while field events include shot put, running long jump and mini javelin.
