EHS names student of the week

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am currently a 12th grade student at Emmaus High School.

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My father’s name is Andrew, my mother’s name is Samantha and my brothers’ names are Nathaniel and Michael, one older and one younger.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject is mathematics because sometimes it is fun to solve hard problems.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. Yes, I have indeed received awards, the most recent one being the Excellence in Physics award by the high school. It felt satisfying to receive this award because AP Physics 1 was a hard yet fun class.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?

A. The main activity I participate in outside of school is playing the piano. Within the high school, I use these skills to perform for the jazz band and the annual orchestra coffee house.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. Generally, AP exam weeks are the biggest challenge of each year in high school. Especially in the past year where I had more than one exam, these weeks tend to be much more stressful. Of course, I like to keep in mind it’s just another test to study for and pass.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. My next goal is to graduate from college, ultimately finding a financially stable job.

Q. Whom do you hope to emulate? Why?

A. I hope to emulate myself. When someone else looks at my actions, I want them to think it is a result of my own will, not because someone else influenced me to do so.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered as someone who is helpful to society.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. I believe that actively participating in classes is the best opportunity to learn new material. You don’t have to necessarily answer all the questions the teacher gives, but rather listen in to the lesson at hand and ask questions about what doesn’t make sense within that class period, otherwise you might live the rest of the year uncertain about what you are learning.
