Kathleen Mae Kennedy, 94, of Kutztown, died peacefully Jan. 15, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Reading, after several months battling congestive heart failure. She was the wife of the late Marvin C. Strohl Sr., of Fogelsville, who died in 1976. They were married for 30 years. Born in Wescosville, she was a daughter of the late Norman and Bessie (Haas) Hoffman.
She was a graduate of Emmaus High School.
She was an avid volunteer throughout her life; a member of Ziegel’s Union Church where she sang alto in the choir, served several years on consistory and enjoyed being a Sunday and Bible School teacher and youth fellowship leader. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout Troop leader and a 4-H leader for 20 years. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels for more than 20 years.
She is survived by children, Marvin C. Strohl Jr., of Andreas and his companion, Sandra Masters; Susan Campanelli and her husband, Michael, of Kutztown and JoAnne Shafer and her husband, Keith, of Lake Ariel; a brother, Russell Hoffman, of San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Bruce in 1960 and second husband of 25 years, Gene Kennedy, of Nesquehoning; five brothers.
She requested a private family celebration of life. Arrangements were made by the Keller Funeral Homes, Inc., Fogelsville.
