LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Morgan, Nales lead Salisbury past Pirates

Winter weather has left athletic directors scrambling to reschedule games and coaches revising their practice schedules over the past two weeks. Because of that, Salisbury had just one game in the last week, but it turned out to be a good one. The Falcons downed Palisades 43-35 when they made the trip to Kintnersville recently.

Kendra Morgan and Desiree Nales had big games for Salisbury (1-10 Colonial, 3-11 overall) with Morgan scoring a game-high 19 points and Nales chipping in with 13 points in the win. Morgan was hitting from long range as she sank three three-pointers in the game and Nales and Bella Nimeh both added a three-pointer for the Falcons.

Palisades (3-8, 3-9) and Salisbury were tied after the first quarter, but Salisbury opened a 22-17 lead by halftime. Morgan and Nales put the game away over the final eight minutes with both players scoring seven points in the final quarter to push Salisbury to the win.

The Falcons had a road game at Kutztown postponed until Feb. 7 and senior night against Saucon Valley was moved to Jan. 30 because of last week’s weather. Between now and the game against Saucon Valley, Salisbury has a busy schedule with a game against Northern Lehigh and then back-to-back games against Catasauqua and Panther Valley before senior night next Tuesday.

Salisbury has five senior players in Nales, Bailee Neitz, Ava Smarch, and Paige and Sydney Ziegenfuss. Team managers Nolan Grejda and Alexandra Miller will also be saluted as seniors.
