Emmaus girls’ swimming saw its overall record fall to 6-5 recently with a 141-45 loss at Wilson West Lawn. In the EPC, the Emmaus girls are 6-1.
Emmaus took second place in both the 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay before finishing third in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
In the 200-yard medley, the team of seniors Izzy Sparaco and Georgia Magditch, junior Veronica Karboski, and sophomore Sophia Harmon took second with a time of 1:51.37 while Wilson teams were able to grab the top spot and third place in the event. Karboski and Harmon were teamed with junior Gloria Klees and senior Mia Baldwin as they edged out a Wilson team by just .75 seconds to finish second.
Magditch was the only Emmaus swimmer to win an event when she posted a personal best time of 2:13.79 in the event to beat Wilson’s Lexi Stambaugh by .65 seconds. Harmon finished third in the 100-yard butterfly and Klees placed third in the 50-yard freestyle just .02 seconds out of second. In the 100-yard backstroke, Sparaco placed third for Emmaus. The only other Emmaus swimmer to finish as high as third in an individual event was Druthi Reddy, who finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke.
In diving, Emmaus’ Keira Gilboy finished fourth with a score of 184.75 and Elle Bagley finished fifth with a final score of 174.45 for Emmaus.
Emmaus has meets against Liberty and Nazareth left on their EPC dual meet schedule and will then compete in the Cedar Crest Classic at Parkland High School and will host the Last Chance Meet on February 17th, allowing swimmers one final opportunity to qualify for the District 11 meet which will be held March 1 and 2nd at Parkland.
