Allentown St. Patrick’s Day Parade events listed

Events in conjunction with the annual Allentown St. Patrick’s Day Parade have been announced.

The St. Patrick’s Parade Fundraiser is 3 - 6 p.m. Feb. 18, Knights of Columbus-Columbian Home, 1519 W. Greenleaf St., Allentown. Awards will be presented in the student poster contest. A disc jockey will provide music for dancing. Irish fare will be available for purchase. Tickets include beer and soda. Attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for area food pantries.

The West End Pub Crawl starts at 5 p.m. March 9 in the 19th and Liberty streets area of Allentown. An “Official Parade Keychain” includes a walking tour of the West End, bagpipers and stops at Cuzins Pub & Grille, Ringer’s Roost, Volpe’s, The Shanty on 19th, Greg’s West End Saloon, Fairgrounds Hotel, Liberty Street Tavern, Stooge’s Bar & Grille and Sleepy Cat Urban Winery.

The Irish Flag-Raising is 11:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. March 15, Allentown City Hall, City Hall Plaza, Allentown. There will be bagpipers and Irish step-dancers.

The 2024 King and Queen of the Allentown St. Patrick’s Parade will be crowned at the Coronation Celebration, 8:30 p.m. during the 7:30 p.m. - 11 p.m. March 15 event, Agricultural Hall Annex (Charles Hall), Allentown Fairgrounds. Entertainment includes bagpipers and step-dancers. Food will be available for purchase. Tickets include a copy of the 2024 St. Patrick’s Parade Program Book.

Irish Cultural Community Day, noon - 3 p.m. March 16, Agri-Plex Annex, Allentown, a free event, includes Irish dancers, hurling demonstrations, Celtic games, face-painting and music.

St. Patrick’s Day Sunday Mass is at 9 a.m. March 17, Immaculate Conception Church in the original Irish immigrants’ Sixth Ward, Allentown. The Most Rev. Alfred A. Schlert, Bishop of Allentown, is celebrant.

The 65th St. Patrick’s Parade, 1:30 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. March 17, features 10 pipe bands, eight divisions and more than 2,000 marchers from organizations, schools, companies and community groups in the greater Lehigh Valley. The parade forms at the Fairgrounds track near the Liberty and 19th streets gate, proceeds west on Liberty Street, north on 19th Street, west on Tilghman Street to 25th Street, south on 25th Street, back to Liberty Street, east on Liberty Street and disbands at the Fairgrounds’ 19th Street gate.
