WHS swimmers get sweep over Dieruff

The Whitehall Zephyrs swept every swimming event in their 134-16 (girls) and 127-38 (boys) victories over the Dieruff Huskies on Jan. 23 at Whitehall.

Although the girls 200 medley relay teams raced unopposed, Greta O’Brien, Jenna Giedl, Kendra Musselman, and Hailey Welsh clocked a winning time of 2:19.91.

Ryann Giedl was the 200 freestyle winner in 2:23.49, Kyra Giedl placed first in the 200 IM in 2:35.41, and Musselman won the 50 free in 27.32.

Kyra Giedl came in first in the 100 butterfly in 1:12.97, and Musselman won the 100 free in 1:00.32.

Alica Dayoub was the distance event winner in the 500 free with a time of 8:02.96.

Ryann Giedl, Jenna Giedl, Kyra Giedl, and Aramilis combined to win the 200 free relay in 2:01.38.

Kelly Wallitsch won the backstroke in 1:13.32, and Ryann Giedl won the 100 breaststroke in 1:28.11.

In the 400 free relay, Kyra Giedl, Musselman, Alyssa Quach, and Kelly Wallitsch took first place in 4:34.63.

In boys events, Quinlan Doyle, Alex Madden, Aaron Stinner, and Cameron Herring were the 200 medley relay winners in 1:51.11.

Stinner won the 200 free in 1:50.27, Gabe O’Brien took first place in the 200 IM in 2:28.60, Andrew Deutsch sprinted to a 50 free victory in 25.19.

Ian Thomas won the 100 fly in 53.69, Deutsch took first in the 100 free in 55.69, out touching Dieruff’s Dylan Sebesta whose time was 55.73, and Stinner won the 500 free in 4:55.08.

Jonathan Stinner, Habib Leyos, Deutsch, and Aaron Stinner placed first in the 200 free relay in 1:42.59.

Thomas was the 100 backstroke winner in 57.64, and Madden came in first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.92.

In the last event of the night, Glenn Kline, Joe Younes, Thomas, and Leyos combined to win the 400 free relay in 4:05.57.
