CWSA retains officers

The first meeting of 2024 for Coplay Whitehall Sewer Authority was held Jan. 18 at the CWSA building, 3213 MacArthur Road. Chairman James Hahn called the meeting to order, and the election of CWSA officers was held.

All current members will retain their 2024 positions. Each was voted on and approved. These positions include Hahn; Paul D. Boyle, vice chairman; Joseph Bonshak, treasurer; Dennis Wehr, assistant treasurer; Joseph Marx, community affairs officer; Paul Geissinger, secretary; and James Roth, assistant secretary. The salary for each assistant position is $250 per month, with others at $300 per month.

CWSA Attorney Andrew Schantz spoke on the December 2023 negotiations with Teamsters Local 773 and the collective bargaining agreement. The contract was voted on favorably by the union. The new five-year contract has now been put into the final format and shared with the board. The board approved the motion.

Hahn raised a motion to retain 2024 appointments for solicitor - Andrew Schantz with Davison and McCarthy; engineer - T&M Associates; and accountant - Buckno Lisicky and Company. This motion was voted on positively and approved.

CWSA General Manager Matt Harleman reported he attended a KISS (Kline’s Island Sewer System) project meeting the morning of the meeting. Details were shared with board members, and Harleman asked members to review and be aware of what is being discussed.

Harleman also reported, as requested, all floors at the CWSA building have been cleaned.

Hahn brought up resolution 383 to the board for a vote. This resolution is for the disposition of records as they are retained, as per policies. This motion was voted on and approved.
