Coplay: Mardi Gras event set for Jan. 27

St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St., is planning to hold its second annual Rock Out Mardi Gras celebration Jan. 27. The event will start 5 p.m.

This BYOB event features a New Orleans-inspired menu, beads, masks and prizes, and there will be music by the Josef Kroboth Band until 10 p.m.

There is a cost.

Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., is continuing its Saturday night musical entertainment. Live music will be held 7-10 p.m.

The schedule includes Tim Harakal Jan. 27, Uncle Smiley Duo Feb. 3, Mere Mortals Feb. 10, Tim Harakal Feb. 17 and Steve and Steve Feb. 24.

There is no cover charge.

Coplay Sports will be holding sign-ups for baseball and softball at the Coplay Wildcat Den, 666 Potter Terrace.

In-person sign-ups will be noon-2 p.m. Jan. 27, Feb. 10 and 24 and March 2 and 5:30-7:30 p.m. Jan. 31 and Feb. 21. Online sign-ups began Jan. 8 at coplaysports.org.

Baseball is for ages 9-15, and softball is for ages 5-8.

St. John’s Lutheran Church is holding a retirement luncheon for the Rev. Timothy Boyer 1 p.m. Jan. 28 at Northern Valley EMS, 2375 Levans Road, Coplay. The event is open to all and features a hot meal of ham, oven-roasted chicken and all the fixings.

There is a cost. Kids ages 6 and under eat for free.

American Club of Coplay, 300 Cherry St., will hold a steak and cash raffle Feb. 4 at the pavilion, 300 Cherry St. Doors open noon, and raffles will be 1-5 p.m.

There will be free lunch and refreshments for ticket holders. Tickets are available at the club or its hoagie shop.

A 1980s-themed dance called “Living in the 1980s Was Risky Business” is set for 6-10 p.m. Feb. 10 at American Club of Coplay. Doors will open 5:30 p.m.

There is a cost, which includes a pasta dinner, soda, beer and spirits.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.

If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.

Explorer Post 101’s mission is to promote interest in the hobby of model railroading to 12- to 21-year-olds.

Meetings are 7-9 p.m. every Thursday on the second floor of the municipal building, 98 S. Fourth St.
