BAVTS NEWS-Benefit dinner, district competition, Bridges gala
Carbs for Karb benefit set for Feb. 1
BAVTS is hosting a fundraiser for faculty member John Karb and his wife. Karb is BAVTS’ Protective Service Instructor and a retired Bethlehem city police officer. He has been extremely active in community service events with our school such as the Thanksgiving Meals for Families and Cleaning the Greenway Project in the City of Bethlehem with our students.
Please support Karb and his wife, who suffered a severe car accident two years ago and was eventually diagnosed with cancer. She continues to battle cancer which has now caused severe osteoporosis. Due to her health concerns, she has been unable to work the last two years. In order to alleviate some of their hardships, consider purchasing a meal on their behalf.
Our staff is hosting a fundraiser of a pickup meal on Thursday, Feb. 1, with a Friday, Feb. 2 snow date. The meal consists of a mixed green salad, chicken Parmesan, penne vodka, garlic bread and a cookie for a nominal fee. Order your meal ticket by Jan. 25. Pickup at BAVTS Feb. 1 from 3 to 5 p.m. Cash or checks made payable to BAVTS accepted. Please order using this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScuYkAw8uAUJLwYK-T5OC7PBFJ_mDTO-NU_3FHeI8f_zOgeEA/viewform?usp=pp_url

Bridges Foundation gala March 28
The Bridges Foundation, a nonprofit that supports Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School, is currently celebrating its 25th year of investing in the workforce of the future. The ongoing success of area communities depends in large part on the ability to develop a trained and motivated workforce that can meet the challenges of global competition. It is the foundation’s mission to provide deserving BAVTS students with the ability and financial support to fulfill their career aspirations.
Bridges strives to help BAVTS students in many ways. One of the biggest ways is providing Excellence Awards to graduating seniors. Students can use these awards to continue their schooling or to purchase any tools, equipment or certifications they may need to enter directly into the workforce. Bridges also provides unique educational opportunities for BAVTS students to receive college credit and certifications through Northampton Community College. The foundation takes any opportunity it can to invest in the school and its students, to create an outstanding workforce for the future.
On March 28 Bridges will be hosting a gala to celebrate 25 years of the foundation and is looking for sponsors to help make the event a success. Six levels of sponsorship are being offered. Contact Madeline Sinkler at sinklerm@bavts.org for details.
In addition to sponsorship opportunities, a raffle is being organized for the event. Bridges is in search of raffle items or cash donations, which can be used to purchase prizes to raffle off.
If you are interested in being a sponsor or donating an item, please contact Madeline Sinkler at sinklerm@bavts.org or by snail mail at The Bridges Foundation, Attn. Madeline Sinkler, 3300 Chester Ave., Bethlehem.
