Freedom had a mixed bag of results from their five matches over the weekend at the Central Dauphin Duals, as the Patriots concluded their set of weekend tournaments before the postseason.
The Pates went 3-2 on the day to push the Pates to 9-6 on the season with five dual meets left in the regular season.
Freedom opened last weekend’s tournament with a 37-33 win over Manheim Township and a 46-27 win over JP McCaskey, but then lost to tournament champion Central Dauphin 50-18.
Freedom would knock off Pittston 58-15, but concluded with a 43-26 loss to Northern York.
Sophomore heavyweight Daniel Schiffert (16-4) led the way for the Pates with a perfect 5-0 performance, pinning all of his opponents to come away from the weekend undefeated.
Nicholas Lyden (127) also finished undefeated, posting three falls and a tech fall on the day. The freshman now sits 13-5 on the season.
Jared Karabinus (189) left with a 4-1 record, including three falls and a tech fall, but was pinned in his finale by Cole Bartram of Northern York, to mark his first loss of the season. Karabinus is now 19-1 on the year.
Noah McIlroy (14-4) also went 4-1 with two major decisions and two falls for the Pates at 172.
Freedom now has a set of matchups on the road this week at Emmaus on Wednesday and a trip to Parkland Saturday night.
