Week 16
Sandwiching 4-2 and 7-5 wins around a 6-0 loss to Christ UCC, Dryland remains in 1st place. Leading the way for Dryland were Butch Silfies 6-14, Bernie Yurko 5-11, and Larry Golick 5-13. George Gasper was 5-11, Garry Hunsicker 5-13, A.J. Renn 5-14, Eric Yocum 4-13, with HRs from Keith Laudenslager and Kevin Biechy for Christ UCC.
Second place St. Paul’s kept pace with 3-2 and 5-0, losing the nightcap 2-1 in 10 innings over Ebenezer. Rich Kern was 5-12 to lead the St. Paul’s hitters with Roger Kern and Kevin Gross each going 5-13, Larry Kneller 4-12, and Jennifer Erkinger 4-13. For Ebenezer, Jim Voortman was 4-12 and Joe Kish 4-13.
Farmersville loss the nightcap 7-0 to Emmanuel after winning 4-3 and 3-0. Top hitters for Farmersville included Rick Kittler 5-12, Dave Campbell 3-10 and Gene Grim with back to back HRs (accounting for all 3 runs in Game 2). Judy and Jeff Hoffert were 4-10 each, Tom Dormieda 4-11, Jon Rice 4-12 (HR), Bob Bast 4-13 (HR), and Jim Hill with a HR for Emmanuel.
Star of Bethlehem swept Blessed Trinity by scores of 7-1, 6-0, and 1-0. Hitters for Star of Bethlehem included Scott Hoffert 6-14, Kyle Taylor 5-13, Austin Hoffert 5-14, with Joey Hoffert hitting a HR. For Blessed Trinity, Dan Halteman was 5-12, Terry Knauss 4-12, and Andy Mickelson with a HR.
Week 17
It was “Sweep Week” this week. First place Dryland had a sweep of Ebenezer 11-4, 4-0, and 3-2 in 10 innings. Leading the Dryland hitters included Shawn Sigley 6-13, Bernie Yurko also 6-13, Butch Silfies 5-12, Larry Golick 5-14, with HRs from Trevor Zavacki and Rich Durn. Carol Voortman was 4-12 (HR), with Zane and Joey Blevins going 3-11 apiece for Ebenezer.
Second place St. Paul’s swept past Emmanuel 6-3, 4-0, and 4-3. Rich Kern was 7-13 to lead the St. Paul’s hitters, with Jennifer Erkinger 6-13, Mark Heffelfinger and John Hoysan each going 4-10. For Emmanuel, Jon Rice and Bob Bast were each 5-12.
The next sweep finds Star of Bethlehem beating Christ UCC by scores of 4-1, 1-0, and 8-2. Top hitters included Kyle Taylor 8-13, Bryan Frankenfield 7-13, and Walt Hoffert 6-11 for Star of Bethlehem, while Steve Hunsicker, Donnie Laudenslager and A.J. Renn all had 3 hits each for Christ UCC.
The final sweep of the night saw Farmersville winning 2-0, 3-2, and 7-2 over Blessed Trinity. Leading the way for Farmersville were Gene Grim 7-14 (HR), Rick Kittler 5-12, Tom George 4-12 (HR), and Mark Steigerwalt with a HR. For Blessed Trinity, Tony DeAngles was 5-12 and Andy Mickelson 4 for 11 (HR).
