Emmaus was filled with United States flags and residents lining the sidewalks and streets in the borough Jan. 12 waiting for a visit by President Joe Biden as he begins his reelection campaign.
Accompanying him was Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey Jr., D-6th, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and Congresswoman Susan Wild, D-7th.
Allentown Mayor Matt Turek greeted Biden at the Lehigh Valley International Airport then later accompanied him on his stop at the Mack South Fire Station and Allentown Fire Academy and Emergency Operations Center.
During his stop in Emmaus, Biden visited several local businesses to highlight his support for small businesses, which according to the Small Business Administration, contributes close to 44% of the U.S. economic activity. His stops included the Emmaus Run Inn shoe store, South Mountain Cycle and Nowhere Coffee Co.
Biden stayed longer than planned, not leaving the borough until nearly 4 p.m., which, according to the President’s public schedule was the departure time from LVIA.
