Paulus reelected as council chairman

Hanover Township, Lehigh County, Council held its reorganization meeting Jan. 8. Pennsylvania state law requires municipalities reorganize every two years in January on even years.

The meeting agenda included the election of council chairman and vice chairman.

Township Manager Melissa Wehr ran the reorganization meeting until the council chairman was elected by members of council. Councilman Robert Heimbecker was nominated for chairman, but declined the nomination. Councilman Bruce Paulus was nominated and reelected as council chairman.

Paulus thanked his council peers for his reelection to the chair.

“Thank you for the vote of council members. I appreciate your support,” he said.

Heimbecker was nominated and elected to the office of vice chairman.

Prior to the meeting, Wehr administered the oath of office to Robert Lawler and Anthony Rossi, who were successful in the November 2023 general election.

After official seating, council made the 2024 meeting schedule and various commission member appointments. A total of 33 agenda items were acted upon as resolutions 2024-1 through 2024-32. The final agenda item was a general discussion and overview for 2024.

All resolutions are available for residents to review by contacting the township office.

Council reflected on council’s successful year of 2023. Wehr noted there are many developments set for 2024. She added there are movie nights planned for May through August. More information about the movie nights is forthcoming.
