Bethlehem Landfill, a local landfill providing communities with environmentally-safe and efficient waste disposal services in the Lehigh Valley, is proud to announce another successful year fundraising for its annual Bike Build event. This year, the company raised $7,000 to purchase, build, and donate 67 bikes to support local charitable causes.
As part of its ongoing commitment to community engagement, Bethlehem Landfill partnered with the Lower Saucon Township Police Department, who generously donated the bikes to the Toys for Tots program in Allentown. This collaboration ensured that these bicycles would bring joy and happiness to deserving children during the holiday season.
“We believe in giving back to the communities we serve,” said Astor Lawson, district manager of Bethlehem Landfill. “Our parent company, Waste Connections, has a particular passion for helping children in need and at risk. To date, their annual Christmas Promise Bike Program has donated more than 75,000 bikes to children across North America since 2001.”
In addition to the 67 bikes donated locally through the Bike Build event, Bethlehem Landfill will be allocating the remaining funds to the Lower Saucon Township’s Double Down fundraiser. The proceeds from this effort will go toward assisting cancer patients and their families, providing much-needed support during their challenging journey.
