YMCA holds first Frost Fest

The first-ever Suburban North Family YMCA Frost Fest was a heartwarming, high-energy, family event designed to be a fun, learning experience for children. The event was held Jan. 5 at the YMCA, 880 Walnut St., Catasauqua.

Children and their parents enjoyed cupcake decorating, artificial snow making, Lego assembly, kids bingo, snowflake making and more.

A highlight for the little ones was a giant inflatable slide.

Suburban North Executive Director Melissa Brown said she was delighted by the steady stream of visitors at the event. A hands-on leader, Brown staffed the free hot chocolate stand in the gymnasium.

The hot chocolate was sponsored by Blocker’s Coffeehouse, 309 Front St., Catasauqua.

Rebecca Rose, an alternative health and wellness professional in Catasauqua, helped run the kids’ bingo games.

Youngsters Jordyn and Jacey and their mother, Jes Clinton, were thrilled when Jordyn tossed a ball high in the air and it landed in a cup, winning her a prize. Her sister also received a prize.

An informational table was set up to provide details on the YMCA’s summer day camp program. The camp is held on the YMCA’s grounds and pavilion and features many fun activities also designed to educate campers.

Brown noted she expects the Frost Fest to become an annual event. She encouraged attendees to call the YMCA at 610-264-5221 with any questions about all the activities offered or simply drop by and tour the facility.
