Join me in welcoming Justin Tice as the new assistant principal to Salisbury High School. He starts Jan. 29 and comes to us from Whitehall High School where he teaches biology and chemistry.
Welcome to Salisbury, Assistant Principal Tice!
The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley will once again host Wonderland on Main noon to 4 p.m. Jan. 20. This event will be fun for the whole family. There will be fire dancing by Skylark Circus Arts, a DJ, live ice carving and my personal favorite, free s’mores at the fire pit. Food and beverages vendors will also be on hand and a snow globe photo booth. Sounds like fun.
Salisbury Township schools will have an early dismissal Jan. 12. The high school and middle school dismiss 12:15 p.m. and the elementary school will dismiss 1:15 p.m.
Schools will be closed Jan. 15 in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Salisbury basketball has some home games coming up. Varsity boys will be at home Jan. 11 vs. Bangor and Jan. 18 vs. Palisades.
Varsity girls will be home Jan. 13 vs. Wilson and Jan. 20 vs. Saucon Valley. Come out and cheer on the Falcons.
As the snow is falling outside, I just want to remind everyone any school delays or closings will be listed on WFMZ and through the Thrillshare notification system. Make sure the district has your current phone number. Who doesn’t love getting those 5 a.m. phone calls?
This month’s curriculum and technology committee meeting will be 7 p.m. Jan. 24 immediately followed by the school board meeting at the administration building.
If you still have your real Christmas tree, Salisbury Township Department of Public Works will be collecting them every Tuesday in January. Put your tree at the curb and please remember to remove all ornaments, tinsel and lights.
There have been a lot of questions about the new trash hauler for Salisbury Township, Whitetail Disposal. If you haven’t already, consider signing up for emails from the township. They aren’t often and won’t fill up your inbox, but they do email with important information when needed to keep us informed. Give it a try.
