Are you interested in learning the skills to be an EMT? If so, Lehigh Valley Health Network has a EMT class/training program scheduled to begin in early February. Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as occasional Saturdays, at the George E. Moerkirk Emergency Medicine Institute, for approximately 20 weeks.

The GEMEMI campus, located at 2100 Mack Blvd., Allentown, is a hospital-based training center that is accredited to teach American Heart Association certification courses; pre-hospital education, including the EMT certification program; paramedic programs; and trauma education for physicians and nurses.

Students must be at least 16 years of age to participate in the EMT program. Students ages 18 or older will be eligible to test for the National Registry EMT credential for an additional fee.

A physician release and proof of health insurance are mandatory. Internet and computer access for online testing are also required.

There is a cost for the program.

For more information, check out the flier on the bulletin board outside the CHS counseling office.
