Mary “Max” C. Ferenchak, 87, of North Catasauqua, died Dec. 29, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospice-Cedar Crest. She was the wife of the late Bernard “Ben” P. Ferenchak for 64 years.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Ludvik and Katherina (Fedak) Majernik.
She was a Central Catholic High School graduate.
She was an office administrator for Burlington Coat Factory. She worked for many years in the Catasauqua High School cafeteria.
She was a member of the Decorative Painting Society. One of her hand-painted ornaments was hung on a White House Christmas tree. She was invited to lunch with then-First Lady Barbara Bush.
She was active with Catasauqua groups including Historic Catasauqua Preservation Society and Catasauqua Area Showcase Theatre. She taught ceramics, crocheting, knitting and painting.
She is survived by two daughters, Deborah and husband Greg “Punchy” Loch and Michele Romito; a son, Bernard “Ben” and wife Holly; six grandchildren, Jason Loch, Chris Loch and companion Lori, Ben and wife Helen, Nicholas and wife Laura, Jimmy Kurtz and wife Leah and Megan Henry and husband Vince; nine great-grandchildren, Matthew, Katherine, Jack, Vayda, Vincent, Enzo, Allison, Anthony and Nicole; and a great-great-granddaughter, Heavenly.
