Coplay: Sign up now for baseball, softball season with Coplay Sports

Coplay Sports will be holding sign-ups for baseball and softball at the Coplay Wildcat Den, 666 Potter Terrace.

Sign-ups are planned for noon-2 p.m. Jan. 13 and 27, Feb. 10 and 24 and March 2 and 5:30-7:30 p.m. Jan. 31 and Feb. 21.

Online sign-ups began Jan. 8 at coplaysports.org.

Baseball is for ages 9-15, and softball is for ages 5-8.

Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., is planning to start its Saturday night musical entertainment. Live music will be held 7-10 p.m.

The schedule will include Uncle Smiley Duo Jan. 13, Jump Start Duo Jan. 20, Tim Harakal Jan. 27, Uncle Smiley Duo Feb. 3, Mere Mortals Feb. 10, Tim Harakal Feb. 17 and Steve and Steve Feb. 24.

There is no cover charge.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St., is planning a chicken potpie pickup dinner for Jan. 13. The drive-thru pickup time frame is 4-5:30 p.m.

The menu includes chicken potpie, creamed cabbage or applesauce, roll and dessert.

The deadline to order was Jan. 5. Call Karen at 610-653-2816 to see if last-minute orders will be taken.

Donations will be accepted.

American Club of Coplay, 300 Cherry St., will resume its hoagie sales Jan. 16 and 17.

St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St., is planning to hold its second annual Rock Out Mardi Gras celebration Jan. 27. The event will start 5 p.m.

The BYOB event features a New Orleans- inspired menu, beads, masks and prizes, and there will be music by the Josef Kroboth Band until 10 p.m.

There is a cost.

St. John’s Lutheran Church is holding a retirement luncheon for the Rev. Timothy Boyer 1 p.m. Jan. 28 at Northern Valley EMS, 2375 Levans Road, Coplay.

The event is open to all and features a hot meal of ham, oven-roasted chicken and all the fixings. There is a cost. Kids ages 6 and under eat for free.

American Club of Coplay will hold a steak and cash raffle Feb. 4 at the pavilion, 300 Cherry St. Doors open noon, and raffles will be 1-5 p.m.

There will be free lunch and refreshments for ticket holders. Tickets are available at the club or its hoagie shop.

Coplay Garden Club will next meet 7 p.m. Feb. 29 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. The group meets the last Thursday of the month.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.

If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.
