Brian Higgins remains president after reorganization
The Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners began the new year at its Jan. 2 reorganizational and regular meeting. Commissioners Ron Beitler and Maury Robert were sworn in as returning commissioners.
Commissioner Brian Higgins was re-elected as president and Commissioner Richard Ward was re-elected as vice president.
Bruce Beitel will remain the township manager with Renea Flexer as the assistant manager and secretary. Jeff Waltemyers will remain the treasurer.
Zachary Graves is the sewage enforcement official. Vincent Tranguch is the alternate sewage enforcement official.
Keycodes Inspection Agency will remain the commercial building inspector which will include residential electrical inspector and the alternate residential building inspector.
Check signatories were appointed with two signatures required. Higgins will have Maury Robert and Richard Ward as the two additional signatories. Beitel is the alternate in the event of the treasurer’s absence.
The township solicitor will remain David Brooman with John Ashcroft as the conflict solicitor. Bryan McAdam and the conflict engineer, Hanover Engineering, will remain the same.
Resolution 2024-01 was approved. This authorizes the right of way to be deeded to The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for a certain portion of Willow Lane to the Fields at Brookside Land development.
An appointment was made for the audit advisory committee. Jeffery Carroll was named with the term to expire the first Monday in January 2027.
The building code of appeals has a new member. David Wieder was named for this position with the term to expire Jan. 1, 2027.
David Bonette and Robert Spampinato were appointed to the environmental advisory council with terms to expire Jan. 1, 2027.
Dania Kessler and Lowell Lysinger were appointed to the parks and recreation advisory committee with terms to expire Dec. 31, 2026.
The planning commission has two new members. Ozias Moore and Ryan Kennedy were appointed with terms to expire Jan. 1, 2028.
The public safety commission has a new member – John Parish was appointed with a term to end Dec. 31, 2026.
Julie McDonell will remain on the vacancy board with the term to expire the first Monday in January 2025.
Avery Smith was appointed to the zoning hearing board with the term to expire Dec. 31, 2028.
Resolution 2024-03 was approved. This is the amendment for the 2024 fee schedule. The next Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting will be 6 p.m. Jan. 18.
