John Patrick Petraglia Sr. Drop Forge supervisor

John Patrick Petraglia Sr., formerly of Bethlehem, died on December 23, 2023, at Spring Arbor Assisted Living, Greensboro, North Carolina. Born in Nazareth, he was a son of the late Pietro and Maria Petraglia. He was the husband of the late Irene Check Petraglia.

He was a student at Holy Family School, Nazareth, and was a 1946 graduate of Nazareth High School. He was an engineering major in the Academy of Aeronautics, New York; after which he was offered a position at Martin Aircraft.

He was in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 with an artillery unit during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Army Medal of Commendation for his actions. He earned, in 1957, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University. Upon graduation, he entered the loop course with Bethlehem Steel Corporation. He completed his career as a superintendent in the Drop Forge Division.

He is survived by a brother, Joe Petraglia and wife Clara of Pennsylvania; two sons, John Petraglia Jr. and wife Marie of North Carolina and Peter Petraglia and husband Patrick of California; two grandsons, Sean Petraglia of Pennsylvania and Peter Petraglia of North Carolina; and two sisters, Rose and Carmela Steen.
