BETHLEHEM social calendar

STRENGTH TRAINING: Penn State Extension will offer a virtual live group-based strength training program for adults ages 40 and above. LIFTed is aimed at improving functional fitness, or the ability to perform daily activities with ease.

The eight-week online course will occur from noon to 1 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday, beginning Jan. 15.

Through moderated training exercises and basic nutrition information, participants will work toward achieving their personal goals in a group setting. The program is designed to improve strength, posture and flexibility, as well as emphasize the benefits of a healthy diet.

Participants can register through Jan. 12. The registration fee covers the cost of the full eight-week program. Registration is required to receive the link to access the webinars.

SOUPER SUNDAY: ArtsQuest is excited to announce that in addition to the return of the 14th annual Souper Bowl, Lee Chizmar of Bolete and Mr. Lee’s Noodles, and one of the Lehigh Valley’s most renowned chefs, will host the Best Thing You Ever Made Soup Demo on Sunday, Feb. 4 at 12:45 p.m. at SteelStacks. The demonstration will last approximately 45 minutes.

Allentown native Chef Lee Chizmar will demonstrate how he creates Cauliflower soup featured on an episode of Food Network’s “Best Thing I Ever Ate.”

The current list of contestants for the Souper Bowl includes: 29 Cooks Catering; Bethlehem Area Vo-Tech; Forks Mediterranean Deli; Orizaba Restaurant; Palette Kitchen; Prime Steak House; Lemon Tree Lane Kitchen; Lutzis Restaurant; Roasted; and Sauce.
