UPPER MACUNGIE: Exercise classes, art programs offered for the new year

Upper Macungie Township is offering a new Zumba program from 6-7 p.m. every Monday Jan. 8-Feb. 12 at Veterans Elementary School, 250 Twin Pond Road.
This six-week Zumba session is designed to improve cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility.

The township is partnering with St. Luke’s and the Parkland School District to offer a free chair strength and mobility class from 9-9:45 a.m. every Wednesday and Friday Jan. 10-Feb. 16 at St. Luke’s Fitness and Sports Performance Center, 501 Cetronia Road.
This is a low-impact chair-based strength and flexibility exercise program for adults of all activity levels working on balance, coordination, agility and functional strength.
Spots are first come first-served, so register early.

The township’s new indoor yoga class for beginners and advanced participants will take place from 6-7 p.m. Thursdays Jan. 11-Feb. 15 at Veterans Elementary School, 250 Twin Ponds Road.
Participants will need to bring a yoga mat and water bottle.

Youth Indoor Soccer-Mighty Kicks is being offered Jan. 10-Feb. 14 at Veterans Elementary School, 250 Twin Ponds Road.
Mighty Kicks is the premier introductory soccer option for kids ages 2-7 and is designed to build motor and life skills, self-confidence, and basic soccer techniques.
The kids ages 2 program is 5-5:30 p.m. The 6- to 7-year-old program will take place 6:30-7:10 p.m.
There is a waiting list for the kids 3- to 5-year-old program.

A community art class for participants ages 7 and older is being offered 6-7:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Upper Macungie Township Building, 8330 Schantz Road, Breinigsville.
Participants will learn the basics of how to make an 8-inch wreath using fabric strips.
There is a fee for this class. Registration is required to attend these programs.
