Book shines spotlight on talented senior adults

BY BONNIE LEE STRUNK

Special to The Press

Maria Azar was on a mission.

The New Tripoli resident, who taught Spanish classes and moderated a poetry group at Lehigh Valley Active Life senior center, Allentown, was determined to show the world the talents and creativity of people over the age of 65, who are often marginalized and considered obsolete, according to Azar.

Her passion and commitment led to an anthology of poems, photography, paintings and crafts by members of Lehigh Valley Active Life.

The collection was recently published in a book, “The Wonder of Aging,” which is on sale for $15 at the senior center, 1633 W. Elm St., Allentown. Proceeds from the sale of the book will be used to promote Lehigh Valley Active Life programs and activities.
