Whitehall’s girls swim team sneaked out an 86-82 victory over Allentown Central Catholic, and Whitehall’s boys team scored a comfortable 111-52 win over Central on Dec. 27 at Whitehall.
The Zephyr girls trailed, 76-78, prior to the last event, the 400 free relay, but Kendra Musselman, Ryann Giedl, Kelly Walltsch, Jenna Giedl pulled out a first place finish in 4:26.02, and a third-place finish by Whitehall’s Aramilis Rivera, Allison Quach, Kyra Giedl, and Serenity Pauly put the Zephyr girls on top.
Kyra Giedl had two first-place finishes, winning the 200 IM in 2:35.77 and the 100 butterfly in 1:11.05, and Musselman sprinted to first in the 50 free in 27.91.
Musselman scored second-place points in a photo finish in the 100 free in 1:00.76, and Central’s Tyla Block was first in 1:00.25.
Ryann Giedl also placed second by a touch in the 200 free in 2:25.83, and Central’s Priscilla Elias was first in 2:25.64.
In the boys meet, Whitehall’s 200 medley relay team of Gabe O’Brien, Alex Madden, Andrew Deutsch, and Jonathan Stinner out touched Central’s Liam Fitzpatrick, Will Haring, Nick Janis, and Gavin Mahon for the first win of the day, 1:56.80-1:57.01.
Ian Thomas won the 200 free in 1:58.44 and the 100 fly in 55.26 for the Zephyrs, and Aaron Stinner was first in the 200 IM in 2:12.19.
Deutsch took first place in the 100 free in 56.36, and Colton Reed won the 500 free in 7:24.67.
Thomas, Cameron Herring, Quinlan Doyle, and Aaron Stinner combined to win the 200 free relay in 1:39.82.
The 100 breaststroke was won by Whitehall’s Alex Madden in 1:09.85.
The Zephyr boys closed out the meet with a victory in the 400 free relay by Thomas, O’Brien, Deutsch, and Aaron Stinner in 4:16.25.
