Parkland tops K-Kids to remain unbeaten

The Parkland High School girls basketball team was looking to have a happy and merry Christmas this week and remain unbeaten. The Trojans took care of business and made sure of it as they dispatched of Northampton 61-32 last Friday night at Parkland High School.

Parkland was strong right off the opening tip-off and scored 20 first quarter points, while holding the Kids to just eight. The Trojans were actually outscored 10-9 in the second quarter and took a 29-18 advantage into halftime. They responded in a big way, however, in the third quarter, doubling up Northampton’s total, 20-10 to go on top 49-28 heading into the fourth quarter and then finished them off in the final stanza.

Three Trojans finished in double figures in scoring, led by 15 points from Madi Siggins, who also went 3-for-3 at the free-throw line. Talia Zurinskas tallied 13 points and made a team-best two 3-pointers. Delaney Chilcote recorded 10 points to round out the trio in double digits. Isabella Hallai finished just shy of double figures with eight points and Savannah Gonzalez added four points in the win.

The Trojans are now 8-0 overall and 6-0 in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference.

Parkland is back in action this week before the new year as it will compete in a holiday tournament at Pine Grove High School. The Trojans played against Blue Mountain on Wednesday afternoon with their Thursday opponent to be determined at the time of print.
