New book examines notable Liberty grads

When local author and Bethlehem native Mark Iampietro undertook his latest compilation, “Liberty High School: 100 Years ... 100 Notable Graduates,” he committed to donating a portion of the first month’s proceeds to the Bethlehem Area Public Library. The library “is a great source of information,” says Iampietro who often does research for his topics at the BAPL.

On Dec. 16 he honored his commitment by delivering a check in the amount of $2,000, which was accepted by reference department employee Mary Catherine Bluder. “We hope that other people will think of the Library as a place to support,” said Bluder, “it means a lot.”

Iampietro has a made it a practice to assist other service nonprofits with proceeds from other stories he has published. The Gold Star Mothers, Bethlehem Boys and Girls Club, St. Luke’s School of Nursing and St. Luke’s Hospice have been benefactors of Iampietro’s kindness and success. “It’s a way to give back,” he says.

In addition to the check presentation, Iampietro, who said he had a number of out-of-state sales contribute to the donation, did a book signing in the Library’s Laros Room for local customers.

“Liberty High School: 100 Years ... 100 Notable Graduates” highlights successful graduates in a variety of areas, including arts, sports, politics and education.
