The holiday season break usually means basketball teams hitting the road and that will be the case for all three local teams, as they look to test their mettle against competition from other areas.
Liberty might be taking on the greatest challenge as they trek to the Reading Holiday Tournament and take on the vaunted hosts in the opener at 7:30 p.m. on December 27. The other contest in the event features Cardinal O’Hara of Philadelphia taking on Middletown (DE) earlier in the evening. The consolation and championship games will take place on December 28.
Bethlehem Catholic will participate in the Viking Invitational in Delaware on Dec. 29 and 30, which features two brackets and 12 total teams.
The Hawks will play Appoquinimink (DE) at 3 p.m. on Friday. The other teams in the bracket include Delaware schools St. Elizabeth and Tower Hill.
Depending on the Hawks result in their opener, they’d play in the consolation game at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday or in the championship game later at 4 p.m.
Freedom is staying closest to home at the Easton Rotary Classic on Dec. 27 when they play Phillipsburg at 4:30 p.m.
The other contest features the host Rover taking on Hatboro Horsham.
The consolation and championship game will take place on December 28.
