Elizabeth H. “Betty” Leibert, 94, of Macungie, previously of Emmaus, died Nov. 13, 2023, at Lehigh Commons, Macungie. She was the loving wife of the late Carl K. Leibert with whom she shared 49 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Collingdale, she was a daughter of the late Archibald and Elizabeth (Hayes) Murdock.

She graduated from Collingdale High School in 1948.

She and her husband met while both were working at General Electric Co. in Philadelphia. After her children started school, she served as a church secretary for St. John’s Lutheran Church, Emmaus; Asbury United Methodist Church, Allentown and Calvary Baptist Church, Allentown.

She adored her family, Calvary Baptist Church, volunteering and her Irish heritage. She was an extraordinary friend, quick to laugh and always concerned about the well-being of others.

She is survived by a son, David and his partner, Tamar; daughter, Karen Forsman and her husband, Doug; grandchildren, Colleen and Daniel. She was predeceased by a brother, Archibald Edward Murdock.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Calvary Baptist Church or the Allentown Area Ecumenical Food Bank, 417 N. 14th St., Suite 101, Allentown, 18102.

A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Jan. 6, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church, 4601 W. Tilghman St., Allentown, 18104. Arrangements were made by the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus.
