Denise D. Rohrbach
Denise Rohrbach, 69, of Coopersburg, died Dec. 18, 2023, after a long, hard fought battle with cancer. She was the wife of Robert “Bob” Rohrbach. She was the daughter of the late Kenneth E. and Charlotte Ann (Lucas) Shuey.
She grew up in the small village of Nittany. She and her younger sister, Shelly, had many happy memories visiting their grandparents’ farms and exploring their youth with their wonderful cousins.
She graduated from Bellefonte High School and Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in social work in 1975. While at Penn State, she met her future husband, Robert.
She held various hospital positions over her 30-year career. She worked as a trauma social worker at Lehigh Valley Hospital, a director of case management at St. Luke’s and was a vice president at Good Shepherd. She worked for a Dallas-based consulting company and opened an inpatient rehabilitation unit at Grand View Hospital. She continued her education at St. Francis University and received a master’s degree in hospital administration.
She loved flowers and gardens. She loved creating miniature gardens and exhibited them at the Philadelphia Flower Show and collected ribbons that she won. She was an avid supporter of Penn State, an athletics season ticket holder and loved attending football games every fall. She loved her family, including her furry friends.
She and her husband traveled to all 50 states and numerous countries throughout the world.
Her life was defined by faith. As a loyal member of The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, Emmaus, she served on church council, taught Sunday school for 30 years and was passionate about outreach activities.
She is survived by her husband; son, Brian and his wife, Laurie; grandsons, Jack and Harry, of Norwell, Mass.; daughter, Jennifer and her husband, Christopher Swetz, of Leesburg, Va.; sister, Shelly and her husband, Joel Weaver, of Ocala, Fla; dear friends and extended family.
