Catherine B. Renninger, 92, died Dec. 17, 2023, at Luther Crest, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of David Renninger for 71 years. She was the daughter of the late Timothy H. Gehman and Marie B. Gehman.

She graduated from Emmaus High School, Class of 1949 and then Sacred Heart School of Nursing in 1952.

She was a woman of many interests and accomplishments. Her love of travel took her to many wonderful destinations throughout the world. Her interest in marine life led her to become a certified scuba diver at the age of 41. In the early 1970s she became a lifelong P.E.O. Sister and was devoted to the cause of furthering educational opportunities for women. She served as president of the Luther Tower Aides. In this position she managed the gift shop and cafe for the benefit of the residents.

She is survived by her husband; children, Sherry Sutton (William), Scott (Barbara), Lori Sweede; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Wiley P. Gehman (Leah), Sarah Cook, Nora Nolan.

A celebration of life will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus, 11 a.m. Dec. 27. A luncheon in the church hall will follow the service. Arrangements were made by the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus.
