Liberty splits vs. SHS

The Liberty swim team’s home opener resulted in a split decision as the Hurricane girls defeated Stroudsburg, 117-45, and the Stroudsburg boys defeated the Hurricanes, 86-72, on Dec. 12.

In the girls meet, Chelsea Hearn, Sophia O’Hara, and Amelia Paxton completed a one-two-three finish in both the 50 free and the 100 free for Liberty.

Audrey Bloss-Ferry was the 100 butterfly winner in 1:04.67, Lilah McClarin won the 100 backstroke in 1:08.66, and Leah Onia was first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:17.49.

In diving, Gabriella Madeira placed first with 163.15 points, and Eva Madeira placed second with 124.90 points.

The Hurricane girls swept all relay events, beginning with McClarin, Onia, Katie Bruno, and O’Hara’s 200 medley, and ending with Bruno, McClarin, Bloss-Ferry, and Hearn’s 400 free.

Paxton, O’Hara, Onia, and Hearn won the 200 free relay midway through the meet.

Liberty winners in the boys meet were Christian Hackett in the 200 free, David Gabrielle in the 100 fly, and Wade Wu in the 100 backstroke.

In diving, Jaxson Dorsey placed first with 140.40 points, and Zivon DeLosSantos placed second with 132.85 points.

Wu, Gabrielle, Hackett, and Ben Raineri combined to win the 200 free relay in 1:36.40.

Liberty’s next home meet is scheduled for Dec. 27 when they will host Pottsville.
